The recap of the season: Varsity Softball

Varsity softball started their season with a win when they played against Victoria West with a score of 10-0.

The team racked up 16 hits in the game. Junior Kylie Neel, senior Kaitlyn Reinecke, junior Leea Dempsey, senior Kacie Pryor, and junior Haley Etzler all had multiple hits.

“Pitching a perfect game against a better a better team and our team giving it their all,” Prior said.

The next week, they brought home a win against Fulshear Chargers with the score of 16-0. Junior Cici Mata had 3 hits in this weeks game and with the help of Reinecke and Dempsey with four hits for the big win.

“During the game, I played really hard, so we could get that dub,” Dempsey said.

On March 9th, varsity softball won again in a conference game playing against Calhoun with a score of 2-0. Senior Bria Tovar had one hit for Calhoun’s conference and with Pryor had three walks and four QAB’S.

“When I am in a softball game, I feel just lovely,” Tovar said.

The varsity softball team won the home conference game against Terry by a score of 3-0. Reinecke had two hits, junior Alyssa Muceus had two hits, and Junior Cici Mata had 3 QAB’S.

“When I am in the game, I feel a competitive drive to do whatever I can to help my team win,” Muceus said.

The varsity softball team won on Tuesday, March 20 against Victoria East by a score of 8-0. Pryor had four hits throughout the game and had the help of  Mata and junior Lia Castillo with five hits to win the game.

“I felt great to win against a competitive team like Victoria East who has always given us close game every time,” Mata said.

The first loss was against Angleton by a score of 0-1.

“I get inspiration from my teammates,” Castillo said. “No matter the day or team we play, there’s nobody else I’d rather take the field.”

Varsity softball had a big win against Lamar with the score of 13-0. Freshman Amanda Allen had seven Ks and hit a three-run homer to help with the win 13-0.

“I felt like we all did good,” Allen said. “All around offense were good. we quickly adjusted and defense were really tight. I felt my pitch was  really good for my first district high school game.”
