Varsity boys track wins first at Gulf Coast Relays

The boys track team has started off in a great start. On Friday, at the Brazosport Gulf Coast Relays in Freeport at Brazos High School, winning first place champions with a total of 180 points.

The first gold medal was earned by senior Michael Maves in the shot put,  and he was followed by junior Wesley Asenuga in 100 meters, senior Christian Young, junior Christopher Laywon, and freshman Cody Jackson in 200 meters.

“Getting a gold medal was such a good feeling,” Maves said. “Seeing that my hard work has reaped some of the benefits and going out there and competing with so many people and seeing that I’m the best one out there is one of the best feelings.”

The results by schools were:

4. Cluta Brasewood 71

5. Brazosport 71

6. Clements 57

7. Austin 13

8. Kempner 13

Other medalists were:

12, Dorian Stanion 2nd place in 100 meters

12, Tamerik Williams 3rd place in 100 meters

12, Fabian Peoples 2nd place in 200 meters

12, Chris Bowe 3rd place in 200 meters

12, Tolulope 1st place in 400 meters

11, Shadeed Ahmed 3rd place in 400 meters

12, Christopher Wise 1st place in 800 meters

11, Collin Williams 2nd place in 800 meters

12, Christopher Cobbin 3rd place in 800 meters

9, Caden Cunningham 1st place 3200 meters

12, Ezekiel Awe 2nd place triple jump

11, Amryn Williams 3rd place triple jump

The next meet will be held on Wednesday, March 7 at 5500 Avenue N, Rosenberg TX 77471, at 4 p.m. Come out and support.
