The girls varsity soccer wrapped up their season this past Friday, March 23, with a big win against Lamar with a score of 5-0.

Although the team isn’t continuing on to playoffs, they finished with an overall rank of 4th in districts. Being able to finish the season with a big win was an accomplishment to the team.

“I feel like we put all our heart into that last game because we knew it was our last game we were going to play,” junior Liana Hamdan said. “We’ve never played that hard before, we’ve never won by that much before, not against Lamar, and it just felt really good.”

Even though the team lost a few games, they turned those losses into momentum to play even harder. The varsity team overcame adversity throughout the season, learning how the team played together and successfully worked together.

“Before, there were new girls and we didn’t talk that well,” Hamdan said. “We would kind of keep messing up, but during the last few games we started really picking that up and talking to each other and make amazing passes.”

At the end of the day, winning and losing is a part of the game, but the relationships the team made together were the most important.

“It was really fun to be with all the girls,” Hamdan said. “Some of them are leaving next year, so it’s also kind of sad. We definitely would have preferred if we would’ve won more games, but it was still nice to play with them.”
