This year, the theater program is preparing “A Night of One Acts.” This night will include “Yellow Boat” by David Saar, “Children of a Lesser God” by Mark Medoff, and “Rabbit Hole” by David Lindsey-Abaire.

“Yellow Boat” and “Rabbit Hole” are going to star the junior varsity theater classes. The varsity show is “Children of a Lesser God” and will also include ASL students.

The beginning process of getting ready for the plays includes cutting the script down to make sure it is the length of only one-act.

“We’re trying to trim a little bit of the fat out of the script, so we just have the important parts and all the character development,” sophomore Duncan Stephenson, who plays Howie in “Rabbit Hole,” said.

After they got the scripts ready, the students had to focus on everything else.

“Mainly, it’s just trying to get off book as quickly as we can, trying to memorize lines, getting through blocking all the shows, and trying to get as many run-throughs as we can,” freshman Adam Techmanski, who plays Benjamin in “Yellow Boat,” said.

Every group rehearses during their class period as well as sometimes after school.

“During 4th period, oue ASL class goes to theater, and we just go through the play,” senior Madisyn Vickers, who plays Sarah in “Children of a Lesser God,” said. “We just rehearse that and have Mrs. Willeby give us pointers on how we can do better, what we can do to make the scene feel real.”

Vickers mentioned that she believes that the performance will be really good, and Stephenson agreed.

“I think it’s going to be great,” Stephenson said. “We have an amazing cast. There is a lot of talent and a lot of skill there.”

The shows will be on May 10 and 11 starting at 6. The event will be $5.

“Everyone should come see it,” Vickers said.
